Mass media, through their programs, news and the informal education they spread, show social representation on reality, being the ones referring to violence of great importance in our culture. In order to investigate on the educative influence of mass media in the social representations on violence and the social practices that such representations favour, its characteristics and their school discussion make specific the content of this paper.
